If you have an ATV, UTV, or side-by-side just sitting in your garage or barn, consider donating it to Heartland Wheels. Many Iowa residents enjoy outdoor adventures on these rugged machines, but sometimes life changes leave us with vehicles we no longer use. Whether it’s a trusty Honda FourTrax that’s seen countless trails or a Polaris RZR waiting for its next adventure, your donation can make a real difference.
Heartland Wheels is dedicated to supporting local communities and wildlife initiatives. Your donated vehicle can provide much-needed funding to continue our mission. Not only will you clear up space, but you'll also create opportunities for others to experience the great outdoors. With a simple donation process, you can contribute to a cause that matters while receiving a possible tax deduction in return.

How pickup works
We make the pickup process straightforward for your ATV, UTV, or side-by-side donation. Typically, we can arrange a pickup using a trailer or small flatbed truck, ensuring your vehicle is safely transported. If your vehicle is off-road only and lacks a title, don’t worry; we can work with a Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO) and a bill-of-sale chain. Our logistics team is experienced in handling various identification methods, such as VIN and engine numbers, to facilitate a smooth transfer. For those who own utility trailers, we will gladly accept those as well. Just contact us, and we’ll coordinate the details.
What drives donation value
The value of your donated ATV, UTV, or side-by-side is influenced by several factors. Generally, machines with more hours than miles, especially 4-stroke ATVs, are considered more valuable. Models like the Polaris RZR and Can-Am UTVs typically maintain high resale values in the used market, especially when they are well-maintained and documented with service records. On the other hand, while dented bodywork and faded plastic may lower the perceived value, a vehicle’s runnability can create a premium. Additionally, non-running units may still hold positive parts value, making your donation worthwhile regardless of its condition.
Documentation you need
- Title (if available)
- Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) for off-road vehicles
- Bill-of-sale chain documentation
- Service records for enhanced valuation
- Appraisal for classic models (IRS Form 8283 Section B, qualified appraiser)
Iowa specifics
In Iowa, off-road vehicles like ATVs and UTVs may not require traditional titling, which simplifies the donation process. Vehicles designated for off-road use often lack state titling, relying instead on bill-of-sale documentation to establish ownership. Heartland Wheels understands these local nuances, ensuring a smooth and compliant transfer. Whether your vehicle is state-titled or follows the bill-of-sale route, we’ll guide you through every step.
